Leo's Worker Facing Housing and Food Insecurity

Donation protected
Stacey, a staple worker in Georgetown University's Dining services, is currently and unfortunately struggling with housing and food insecurity due to Leo's drastically reduced hours and the early closing of the dining hall. Amongst many of her meaningful valuables she has lost, Stacey has also had to give up her dog, Debo, because she was unable to keep up with the expenses to properly take care of him. Stacey has been one of the kindest of spirits to have ever graced Georgetown University's campus within my time here. My peers and I have always felt comfortable, welcomed, and embraced by Stacey's hospitable presence. It was heartbreaking, to say the least, when Stacey disclosed how, in a plethora of ways, the global pandemic has dreadfully taken such a deep financial toll on her and her personal living circumstances. In March, Stacey attempted to apply for unemployment benefits and after calling countless times has been unable to receive benefits. Stacey has found it difficult to earn enough to even purchase basic daily needs, amongst other needs throughout the ongoing pandemic. Along with limited resources to depend on, Stacey does not have much family or friends in D.C to help her out. It is in the best of hopes that we can gather as much help as possible to support Stacey; moreover, having an extra hand to lend help would mean the world to Stacey this holiday season. We believe that she is more than deserving of being affirmed, supported, and cared for. Georgetown University's Dining services would not be as efficient as it is without her many contributions, along with the help of other amazing and hospitable employees, within students time here and I am more than grateful to have experienced that. The least we can do is help her share her story with you all in hopes that we can give back to her this holiday season.  Any and everything helps!
