Help Leopold Overcome His Medical Journey
Donation protected
Leopold’s 2025 journey has been one for the records. Three years ago he had a mass removed from his abdomen successfully.. Since he was a puppy he has always favored his back left leg with a slipping patella. A mass developed on it last summer and grew quickly to where the decision to amputate his leg was made in April. We had a month to try and loose as much weight to help with recovery (his dads subcommand to his cuteness when it came to treats). At the start of May the surgery was performed. About 5 days after, Leopold developed a severe staff infection which about did him in. They were able to successfully flush him out and set him on the path to recovery. He had an open wound with a tie over bandage needing changed twice a week, sometimes three as he thought he was a toy and pulled the stuffing out of himself.
We finally after three months of twice a week visits for bandage changes have turned the corner. He is now able to walk and his spirit is returning like it was pre cancer leg amputation. And no more visits for bandage changes.
This $20,000 adventure has put a new meaning on working oneself to the bone. We’ve managed the best we can but as some final hills are coming in we are at a loss. If you know us, this is not the route we take. We hope to get his expenses squared away in case of other unexpected issue with Leopold or his brother Edward and 19yr old kitty brother Apple (yes, he’s a boy) were to occur.
