Leonard’s home and belongings burned in a devastating fire. While it’s just stuff, and we are so grateful that Leonard escaped injury, in the cold light of day, the reality sets in.
He still has a mortgage. He didn’t have insurance. He needs to rebuild and keep his home. He is in a bit of shock. Still processing but eternally optimistic.
When I was much younger, raising two girls on my own, Leonard was my friend. He opened his home to me in Albuquerque when Jade needed to be in the hospital for days at a time. When I didn’t know how to get a gallon of milk or gas, he’d slip me a ten. He never expected a thing. He. Helped. Me. Up. I will never forget that.
He helped me and others always. Its our turn now to help him.
Anything that you can spare would mean so much. In these times, I know each of us is struggling so even if its not possible to give dollars, the need for cleanup and construction is huge. Maybe you have things he could use laying in the yard. A truck or trailer or dump card. A few work hours. Prayers mean the world too, and don’t cost a dime.
The home is adobe and can be salvaged. The things replaced.
Let’s help our brother, uncle, primo, and friend rise from these ashes. Help Him Up!
Gracias a Dios.
