We had a lot of people reach out wanting us to add this option for people wanting to support Leonard & Gail that may not live around this area anymore and can't attend the benefit.
My father-in-law, Leonard Harzinski, went to the ER with severe back pain in July. He thought he had just tweaked his back. They did an X-ray which didn't find anything concerning and sent him home with an appointment to come back the following week for a CT scan. When he went back for the CT scan, they ended up admitting him and then transferring him from Troy Guthrie to Sayre. He then spent a week fighting for his life. Leonard spent the majority of mid-July to mid-August in the hospital for weeks at a time, trying to get stable or running back and forth to doctors' appointments in Troy, Sayre and Rochester. He was then diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Unfortunately, surgery is not an option. Chemo is the only treatment option going forward. He goes for his chemo port this week and hopefully chemo will follow in Williamsport shortly after. Leonard will turn 65 on August 31st. He just retired in March. He still has a lot of life to live and it would take a lot of stress off of them to not have to worry about money during his treatment. Gail is still working as a Toddler Teacher at Stepping Stones Preschool but will have to miss work to help take him to treatments. She has already missed a lot of work the past month and a half, understandably. They are two of the very best people I know and I'm so thankful that they are my family and that my kids, call them Grandma and Grandpa. Neither of them would ever ask for help on their own but they would truly appreciate it. Thank you.
