Leona is a Gitxsan and Nisga'a mother of three children. She is also an Indigenous cultural programmer who is very involved in food systems education and work locally in Vancouver.

Leona works with the Vancouver Urban Food Forest Foundation and is a member of the Vancouver Food Justice Coalition amongst other groups. Her knowledge and contributions to local food systems has been invaluable.

Recently she was informed of a tragic death in her family and the family has requested Leona and her children attend the memorial and to support the family through this tragedy up north in the Prince Rupert region.

Due to the costs of air travel for her family - 2 adults and 2 children, Leona is reaching out to the community for assistance. Living as a single parent and working as a food systems contractor, her finances are very tight.
