A Mother, Her Baby, and Thousands More Need Help After Hurricane Melissa
Hurricane Melissa has torn through our island, leaving families in St. Elizabeth and beyond without homes, food, or income. My friend, with her 6-month-old baby, had to run out into the storm to survive. When she told me she was clutching her baby, soaked and terrified, I knew I couldn’t just stand by. Many families are in the same position—scared, hungry, and unsure of what comes next. That’s why I’m doing everything I can to help.
I’m Leon Hunter, and I’m working with others to bring hot meals, essential supplies, and rebuilding support to those who need it most. Every contribution, big or small, helps a fellow Jamaican get back on their feet. Let’s rise again—stronger together. One love.

How Your Donations Help
$10 provides a hot meal for a family of four
$25 buys baby supplies or hygiene kits
$50 helps repair a damaged roof
$100 supports a local farmer who lost crops
Note from the campaign organizer:
My name is Zara Pastos, and I live in Eugene, Oregon. Leon is a personal friend I’ve known for over 10 years. As the organizer, I will transfer all funds from my U.S. bank account to Leon in Jamaica via PayPal. Leon will use the funds to help Jamaicans devastated by Hurricane Melissa, providing:
Food and water
Toiletries, baby supplies, and hygiene items
Temporary shelter and rebuilding assistance for farmers and people who lost homes
If you live in Jamaica or another country, you can still donate to this U.S.-based GoFundMe using a major credit or debit card. Donors can select their country during checkout, and their bank will automatically convert the payment.
