Help Leon Get the Wheelchair, Therapy & Medical Care He Desperately Needs.
My name is Abdalla, and I am reaching out with a sincere and humble request on behalf of Leon, an incredibly brave 18-year-old young man living with severe spastic cerebral palsy affecting all four limbs.
Leon lives with his family in Syokimau, Machakos County, Kenya, where access to specialized care is limited and often very costly. Despite the challenges he faces every single day, Leon remains full of spirit but the truth is, he urgently needs help.
Leon’s Daily Struggle.
Leon was born with quadriplegic spastic cerebralpalsy, which has left him with:
• Almost no ability to walk
• No ability to speak
• Extremely limited hand function
• Difficulty feeding himself
• Muscles that are constantly stiff and painful
• 90% dependence on caregivers for every basic need
He has partial use of one hand and one leg, but this is not enough for him to sit, move, transfer, or carry out daily tasks without full assistance.
Right now, Leon relies entirely on his grandmother, who cares for him around the clock, feeding him, bathing him, lifting him in and out of bed, and supporting every aspect of his daily life. His mother is a single parent, currently unemployed, and struggling to meet even the family’s basic needs.
The Medical Care Leon Needs.
Doctors have recommended intensive therapy and possible interventions such as an Intrathecal Baclofen Pump (ITB) or orthopaedic surgery to help reduce the severe spasticity in his muscles. These treatments can:
• Reduce pain Lower stiffness Improve posture Prevent long-term deformities.
• Make caregiving safer and easier.
• Give Leon a chance at better mobility.
Unfortunately, these procedures and therapy plans are extremely expensive and far beyond the family’s reach.
What We Are Fundraising For.
Leon urgently needs several critical items and services that will dramatically improve his comfort, mobility, and safety:
1. Electric Wheelchair – £6,500. To give him independence, mobility, and help prevent pressure sores.
2. Patient Hoist – £3,500. To safely transfer him between bed, chair, and bathroom, reducing injury risks for him and his caregivers.
3. Intensive Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy & Speech Therapy – £8,000. To maintain muscle function, reduce stiffness, prevent deformities, and enhance his overall quality of life.
4. Medical Evaluation & Spasticity Procedure - £12,000. This includes specialist assessments and potential interventions such as an Intrathecal Baclofen Pump trial, orthopaedic surgery, or other recommended spasticity, reducing treatments.
Total Amount Needed: £30,000
This is not just a number, it represents a chance for Leon to live with dignity, comfort, and hope. Without these essential tools and treatments, Leon’s condition may worsen, leading to more pain, more stiffness, and greater dependence.
With your help, he gains:
• Mobility Comfort Safety.
• Better posture Less muscle pain.
• A real improvement in quality of life.
