Hello, I adopted "Leon" from La Porte County Animal Shelter about a month ago. Some of you may remember him as the large black dog running loose around Creek Ridge Park/Wozniak Rd.
Leon came to me with a terrible ear infection. After multiple vet visits, it was discovered that he has an antibiotic-resistant bacteria called Pseudomonas. Unfortunately, due to the severity of the infection, the only "cure" is to get a TEKA (Total Ear Canal Ablation and Bulla Osteotomy) surgery from a specialist in Chicago or Indianapolis. I had to get him a CT scan to verify this. My vet bills have already exceeded $2,500 and the surgery is projected to be another $8,000. I am guessing that whoever had Leon before me found out this diagnosis and abandoned him.
While I have only had Leon for a little over a month, he has completely bonded to me and my family! Please consider donating to help pay for his surgery so that we can keep him in our home.
