For over six years, I have been battling pancreatic problems that have brought me unimaginable pain and hardship. My government insurance only covers the bare minimum, and too often, I am denied the proper care and treatment I desperately need. The discrimination and humiliation I’ve faced in medical settings have left me feeling isolated and hopeless. As a result of inadequate care, I’ve lost nearly 90 pounds, dropping from my healthy weight of 225-230 pounds to just 142. I am denied access to pain medication, and my illness is making it impossible to work, leaving me behind on rent and bills.

Through all of this, my emotional support dog Bricks has been my constant companion and best friend. When I am sick, he feels it too. Hospital stays are especially hard because I can’t afford to put Bricks in a proper pet care facility, and he spends most of his time alone. My brother helps when he can, but Bricks deserves more comfort and care while I’m fighting for my health. I live alone, and this illness is rendering me disabled, making daily life a struggle for both of us. Doctors are recommending surgery to remove my pancreas, and the thought terrifies me, but a decision must be made soon.

I’ve put my pride aside for the sake of my health. I never thought it would come to this, but I have nowhere else to turn.
