Most of you know my parents, Leo and Althea. On April 1st, my father was rushed to Grace Cottage Hospital because he was unable to breathe. He was suffering from hypoxia and, from Grace Cottage, rushed to Cheshire Medical Center's ICU where he was intubated and put into a medically induced coma. The doctors found he was suffering from a viral infection and bacterial pneumonia, which severely exacerbated his chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He remained intubated until April 11th when the doctors decided it would be safer and healthier to put him on a tracheotomy ventilator. He is now awake but is still unable to breathe on his own.
We have been praying he recovers, but it is going to be a very long and painstaking road ahead for him. He will have to stay on the tracheotomy ventilator until his lungs are strong enough to sustain normal breathing. When that happens, he will have to be moved to a rehabilitation center. He will have to have extensive physical therapy.
My parents live on a fixed income and his medical bills will be much, much more than they can afford. My mom is 83 and she's already under an extreme amount of stress given my dad's current health crisis. I'm trying to help her not worry about the medical bills, etc., so she's able to focus on my father and his healing. If you can donate, she would be so very appreciative. If you can't, please pray for my Dad.
