This is my nephew Leo, he's an 11 year old boy who loves to read and enjoys spending time out in nature when he can.
Leo is also diagnosed with something called Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis is a life threatening and life shortening, progressive genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time.
In people with CF, a defective gene causes a thick, sticky buildup of mucus in the lungs, pancreas, and other organs.
In the lungs, the mucus clogs the airways and traps bacteria leading to infections, extensive lung damage, and eventually, respiratory failure.
In the pancreas, the mucus prevents the release of digestive enzymes that allow the body to break down food and absorb vital nutrients.
I am reaching out for support to help Leo get a high-frequency chest wall oscillation vest (an inflatable vest that is attached to a machine).
The machine mechanically performs chest physical therapy by vibrating at a high frequency.
As of now Leo's parents has been primarily doing this physical therapy manually by hand since he was a little boy with a visit to a therapist 1-2 per week.
I am asking for support to help Leo's family purchase a vest that could help him fight back and heal from the recent damage in one of his lungs.
I am also asking for this financial support to help pay for the growing medical expenses as he is now requiring more treatments, visits to a specialist and medications.
Prayers are more than welcome. More than anything I am hoping this will lead to a oscillation vest being donated and that the funds can be used to help Leo's family pay for his medications and treatments.
Thank you for reading and bless you for donating!
You can also help by spreading the word.
