This is my sweet Baby Leo. He came into my life in 2015 as a shy, anxious yet energetic eight-month-old Yorkie who was still recovering from a past leg injury; he's been by my side ever since. Leo has been my constant companion, brining me joy, comfort, and unconditional love through ups and downs. His high anxiety, especially during doctor visits, means he needs extra reassurance and comfort to calm him. Despite past serious dental problems and persistent gastrointestinal issues, his gentle, resilient spirit remains unbroken.
Leo goes pretty much everywhere with me, except work. Everyone who knows us can see how deeply bonded we are; we even share separation anxiety. I can't imagine life without him by my side.
This past May, Leo faced a new challenge when he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a rare bone marrow cancer. After a concerning episode of bloody diarrhea and loss of appetite, urgent care visits and extensive testing revealed not only gut issues and pancreatitis, but also abnormal nodules in his spleen and liver. A cancer diagnosis was confirmed by specialists, and Leo began chemotherapy, along with medications such as prednisone, melphalan, Cirenia, and metronidazole. His treatment now includes regular oncologist visits, blood work, ultrasounds, and a prescription diet, plus homemade meals I prepare to support his recovery. Despite setbacks, like fever and infections requiring overnight care, Leo continues to fight with courage.
Leo is being treated at True Care for Pets in Studio City, California. To keep up with his treatment I have had to put essential needs on hold, even postponing replacing my old 2009 car. I have been using Care Credit to cover his medical expenses, but I'm nearing the $10,000 limit, which is why I am reluctantly asking for your help. Every donation to this fundraiser will go toward the ongoing costs of chemotherapy, vet visits, blood work, medications, and his special diet, ensuring Leo can continue receiving the care he needs. Your support will give Leo the best chance at more comfortable, happy days with our family, and allow me to focus on his well-being without the constant fear of mounting expenses.
What the funds will cover:
- Veterinary care: ongoing chemotherapy sessions, regular checkups, blood work, imaging or other diagnostic tests
- Medications: chemotherapy drugs, anti-nausea meds, pain relief, supplements
- Nutrition: prescription diet (Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Low Fat) and safe, nutritious meals I prepare at home
- Practical needs: transportation to appointments and any urgent care if needed
- Transparency: I’ll share updates with receipts or summaries so you can see exactly how the funds are used.
Leo isn’t just a pet; he’s family. He’s shown us what quiet courage and unconditional love look like every day. I want to give him every possible chance to stay with me longer, to give him the best possible quality of life, and to keep cherishing the small, joyful moments we have together.
I’ll post regular updates with photos and summaries of how funds are used, including receipts when possible. I want you to see the real impact of your kindness and how Leo is doing week by week.
If you’re able to contribute, I am endlessly grateful. If you can’t donate, sharing Leo’s story with others would also mean the world to us. Every share helps us reach more kind souls who can help keep Leo in our lives.
