Help Leo Access Life-Saving Treatment Abroad

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and colleagues,

We need your help in supporting Leo Rahman who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer in November 2025.

Leo is only 53 years old, living in Spalding, UK. He has dedicated his career as a human rights lawyer often working with underprivileged and vulnerable clients. He is supported by his partner Janet, and children Atticus and Anya. He is a dear friend to many, brother to Eva and beloved son of Anna and Shelley.

The diagnosis
In the first week of November, Leo experienced signs of a loss of motor control and coordination. Scans revealed a tumour in his right frontal lobe which was later confirmed as a Glioblastoma. This is a devastating diagnosis with no cure and life expectancy 12 to 18 months with conventional therapy, which includes surgery, chemo- and radiotherapy.

Leo underwent urgent debulking brain surgery in early December to remove as much as possible. Due to its size and growth, only around 60% was able to be removed.

Unfortunately, after an initial good recovery from surgery Leo experienced reduced function in his left hand and a seizure. A subsequent MRI has shown the tumour has already started to grow back and is now severely affecting his quality of life. By Christmas Day, the tumour was impairing his ability to express emotions and control movement in his left hand. Within three weeks he lost motor control of his left hand completely and there are signs that movement in his left foot and leg may also be deteriorating. He is struggling to dress himself and unable to drive or work.

UK medical treatment
He is currently undergoing three weeks of intensive radiotherapy treatment in the UK with supportive care to mitigate the effect of seizures and brain swelling. This involves hundreds of miles of driving, hours of waiting, juggling treatment and travel with Janet’s job, and his own loss of income and quality of life.

Treatment in Germany
Close friends and family have rallied to research pioneering advanced and alternative therapies not available in the UK. The good news is that Leo has been accepted for pioneering dendritic cell immunotherapy - spearheaded by Professor (Dr) Frank Gansauge, LDG Laboratories in Berg, Germany.

He needs to start treatment in Germany in early February. This treatment has life-saving potential, minimal side effects, and can potentially limit tumour growth and prolong the quality of his life for another 2 years, and potentially more.

Unfortunately, this treatment comes at a cost which includes travel, accommodation, consultations, hospital stays and specialist therapies. We urgently need to raise funds of £40,000 to cover these costs.

These funds are crucial for giving Leo the best possible chance to see Anya and Atticus graduate from their universities and to give him more precious time with Janet, family and friends.

We can’t do this alone. Any support you can offer will open doors to life-extending options and buys Leo more time. Your donation and generosity, big or small, directly funds Leo's fight for survival.

We understand that not everyone will be able to donate, and please forward this to your friends and colleagues to help us reach our goal.

Thank you for reading and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any help you can give - whether through donations, sharing our story or simply keeping us in your thoughts.

With love,

Janet, Anya, Atticus, Anna, Shelley and Eva
