Help Lenox Kamara's Play Shine at District Fringe
Donation protected
The Pit, written by Lenox Kamara, directed by Jaida Gillespie and produced by Confetti Collective, is going to District Fringe in July! We need your help in raising funds to bring this story to life! Donations would go toward our production elements (lighting, sound, costumes, props), covering transportation fees and hospitality for the artists involved, as well as festival & rehearsal space rental fees.

SYNOPSIS: On the surface, The Peach is the ultimate city tourist attraction for humans. Deep within, The Pit serves as the city’s only queer bar infested by insects. After his disappearance at the age of 15, drag artist JAMES finally welcomes humans into the depths of his speakeasy for a kiki through his adolescence. TROY, a struggling social media chef, must experience queer nightlife for the first time in hopes of facing the friend he let rot in his memories for the past 10 years. At the core of this night of nonsense & nostalgia, will these two zillennials stomach their tumultuous past for a taste of their futures? Welcome to the 25th Anniversary of The Pit!
Themes: Intersectional Identity | Community | Home Security | Love
Why ENTER THE PIT Now? I want to write and produce a hopeless romantic memory play for my younger self. As my generation of queer 20 somethings grow through our awkward quarter life crisis, I want us to remember the wonders, values, and vulnerability of our child selves. A youthful awareness of humility will keep us curious and whole, no matter how much adulthood eats away. The Pit reminds me that our personal sense of play is just essential active reflection of growing pains. ~ Playwright, Lenox Kamara
