“She’s only as strong as her bones allow her to be.”
My name is Jeremy Law, I am currently a full-time head hockey coach at Missouri State University. My purpose for organizing this fundraiser is to raise awareness for my significant other, Lenora Robbins. At 27 years old she has a rare metabolic bone and genetic disorder. My hopes are to ensure that she is receiving the best necessary medical care.
For the last 18 months Lenora has faced many different hardships physically, mentally, and emotionally. During this time Lenora hasn’t been able to work and enjoy her career as an Aesthetician. She has accumulated many medical costs that can’t be attended to during this time. She suffers with chronic neck and rib pain. As well as multi level cervical degenerative disc disease. Lenora underwent a ACDF (Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion) surgery in July of 2020. The Procedure involved the removal of her discs (C4-C6) in her spine to relieve spinal cord and nerve root pressure.
In the following weeks after Lenoras surgery her symptoms became progressively worse. During this time there were multiple ER visits, weekly doctor appointments, and endless researching for answers. In December 2020 during an ER visit the staff discovered that Lenora had 13 rib fractures from an x-ray that was taken. 12 of the rib fractures were on the right side and one on the left. During the next few weeks Lenora’s medical team worked diligently as many questions arose.
How did this happen? Lenora has had no past trauma that would have caused 13 fractured ribs, no car accidents through out her life, and has never broken a bone during childhood. Her Bone Density scan showed that she has Osteopenia. Adults are typically not diagnosed with this condition until mid 50’s and older.
Recently we have received news from Lenora’s medical team that it is imperative for her to be seen by a research hospital. She has been referred to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota in hopes to be able to manage her health and better understand what the future holds for her. Her first appointment is scheduled at the Mayo Clinic June 1st and she will remain there for a minimum of a week. The hospital sadly isn’t in network with Lenora’s insurance company. 100% of the proceeds will be used towards all medical tests, procedures, travel, and treatments to hopefully be on the road to recovery. If you can’t donate please share Lenoras story and pray for healing, guidance, and strength for the days ahead.
