We, Jess and Mon, are reaching out on behalf of our brother Jacob and his beautiful young family during the most heartbreaking and unimaginable time of their lives. No parent ever expects their world to be turned upside down overnight — yet that is exactly what has happened to Bianca, Jacob, little Koa, and baby Lennox.

Lenny is just 15 months old. In the early hours of Thursday, 20th August, after being taken to hospital with what seemed like the flu, doctors felt a lump in his abdomen. After multiple scans, they later delivered the kind of news every parent fears. Lenny has been diagnosed with Wilms Tumour, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer.

The tumour has completely overtaken his left kidney, which now must be removed. His right kidney also has tumours on the surface, and doctors are hopeful they can save it — but nothing is guaranteed. Lenny will be urgently transferred to the Children’s Hospital in Brisbane to begin 6–12 weeks of chemotherapy, with the hope of shrinking the tumours before undergoing major surgery. After that, he will spend months recovering from surgery. This is a long, frightening road for our family.

Jacob and Bianca have been told they will need to relocate to Brisbane for at least six months so Lenny can receive the treatment he needs. Jacob recently left the Royal Australian Navy to be home with his family more and only started a new job six weeks ago, meaning he has no leave available. With Jacob being the primary income provider, this sudden upheaval has placed enormous emotional and financial strain on their young family. The costs of relocating from Cairns to Brisbane, medical expenses, food, bills, car costs, and the income Jacob will lose while unable to work are overwhelming.

This fundraiser is our way of helping ease even a small part of that burden so Jacob and Bianca can focus entirely on what matters most — Lenny’s fight for recovery.
