Help Lennie Recover from Emergency Vet Care
Donation protected
Ahoyhoy, friends. Our little Lennie's health took a rather serious turn over the last week, and he had to spend Friday night through Sunday afternoon (4/11 - 4/13) at the vet. We already knew he had GI issues with vomiting, and so far his RX food had been the ticket, along with some prednisolone here and there as needed for mild flare-ups every so often.
This time wasn't a mild flare-up though. He was unable to eat without throwing up, wasn't able to smell food without throwing up, became more and more lethargic, and by the time we could get him to the vet/urgent care, he hadn't eaten more than a couple kibbles in a few days. They put him in emergency isolation with feeding tubes and the like, gave him some meds for the nausea and pain, and he went under sedation for an ultrasound. The ultrasound found that he most likely has some form of GI cancer, but ultimately a biopsy of any type would have still led to the same outcome of palliative care via another RX food and long-term steroids/pain management. He's home now and doing a bit better, eating again as long as we keep the meds goin' for the next few days for the nausea, keep up on the prednisolone for the foreseeable future until his vet thinks it's safe to taper him down and hopefully off of it—but it could be lifelong too.
We're not unfamiliar with what this entails, and I'm unfortunately seasoned in how to care for special needs pets/cats developing cancer, but the cost of his stay and all it included was extremely painful to our budget currently. Nearly $2400 just isn't something we all had to spare, and sets us back heftily for the next... well, a long time. Any contribution helps!!
