Hello! I am Lena Mactíre, and I am trying to raise funds to get myself and my pack out of Trump’s America and Labour’s Britain and into the comparatively normal land of Ireland. Roughly, these are the things we are working up funds for:
- First month’s rent + deposit: €3,600-€5,000
- Flight: €400-€1,200
- Shipping belongings: €3,000-€10,000 (if shipping a container)
- First month’s expenses: €2,000-€3,000
- Buffer for unexpected costs: €2,000+
- Total suggested savings: €22,191
In US dollars, the total savings will be $25,440. It’s a lot, but the good news is that we have plenty of time to work on this! Any funds raised from this will be placed in an account separate from daily accounts, so that this money remains where it needs to be until we're ready to move.
Why Ireland? A number of reasons, not the least of which being that unlike the US and UK, Ireland has yet to fall prey to the same fascist insurgency that we’ve seen among US Republicans and British Labour. And right now, that matters more than anything. I want my pack safe, and the best way of achieving that is to flee the countries that want us dead and toward one that doesn’t.
This is a big project, but with your help I am confident that we will succeed! Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated by all of us!
