Help Lelainia maintain her mobility & independence!

I have increase the goal slightly to account for the service fee GFM charges. The amount it shows raised is actually less than it appears because of the fees. (Just clarifying)

I have set us this go fund me because my power wheelchair, which allows me to go about my daily life desperately needs new tires. I am on disability & the government refuses to cover them because I got my wheelchair before my husband died & I had to go on disability to support myself. It’s a stupid policy because it’s within my rights to make them purchase me a brand new wheelchair. I don’t want to do that because my chair is better than anything they would fund & getting a new chair is a very long, onerous process that would take MONTHS.

I applied for another source of funding but was turned down. I can’t reapply until the end of January next year. I need tires NOW, before the weather gets bad to avoid having an accident or becoming stranded somewhere when I’m out-my tires are bald. Most wheelchair tires last 2 years, but mine are 4 1/2 years old-they are original to my chair. They lasted this long because during the first 2 years of covid, I was isolating, so my chair wasn’t being driven a lot.

My chair is in constant use. I use it to go to medical appointments (of which there are MANY), to grocery shop, to volunteer, to socialize, to wheelchair curl & to just do my daily life stuff like anyone else. Without it, I would be completely housebound, unable to do anything. This can’t happen.

I very rarely ask for help-I am always the person who is helping others, but I really need help right now, because I have no other options.

The estimate from National Seating & Mobility for 6 new tires (2 big ones & 4 caster tires) plus labour is $1003. I have posted the bottom line above. (It won’t let me post more than 1 photo, but if you need to see the whole thing, I am happy to share it-just ask.)
