On December 10, 2022, my sister-in-law, Denise, sensed something was off with her pregnancy and went to the hospital. At the hospital, they were unable to find a heartbeat and Denise was rushed STAT to an emergency c-section, where within 5 minutes a baby boy was pulled out and resuscitation began. Physicians and nurses continued for 9 minutes until Baby Leithead, later named Cayden Andrew Leithead, was revived, but not without consequences.

Cayden was transported downtown to the University of Pennsylvania where CHOP doctors and neurologists worked to give him the best possible outcome. Unfortunately, that outcome was devastating. It was unknown how long he was without oxygen and nutrients while in the womb, then adding on the additional 9 minutes he was resuscitated caused irreversible, severe brain damage.

On December 17th, 2022, at about 5pm, Cayden passed away in my brother's arms with Denise by their side.

I, Ryan's sister Danielle, am creating this Gofundme to help my brother and his family with the overload of medical bills, as well as a funeral service.
