Help Leigh Ann recover from Hurricane Ida
Donation protected
Hi...I'm Miriam, and I am trying to help a dear, long -time family friend; who I have known since birth. Leigh Ann's father was a childhood friend of my Dad, and stood up for my parents at their wedding 64 yrs. ago. Her mother, Mary, an angel on earth, had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. She was my babysitter when we moved from NC to NJ, and helped me acclimate to my new school and the new culture. And she made the most incredible Scottish shortbread cookies ever, she made them for us for every single family party we ever hosted I think! I want to try to repay a little of that to help Leigh Ann recover from the damages she suffered from Hurricane Ida. Central NJ was the hardest hit region from the storm; and Leigh Ann has lost almost everything she owned in her apartment. Brand new carpeting had to be disposed of because the rushing water was pure sewage! She is waiting on FEMA assistance but unfortunately we know how long that can take, and, unbeknownst to her, her renters insurance had expired in August. I had asked Leigh Ann what she might need and she just couldn't find the words; the loss is so great. I live in PA but I am willing to drive to Elizabeth, if I can get to her now, and give her whatever I have that she can use, but I wanted to do more to help so I am creating this GoFundMe to hopefully help her replace some necessities. Leigh Ann has had one personal hit after another these last few years, and this is somewhere I hope to make a difference for her. I will try to attach a photo she sent of the hallway; the only photo she has, as the water rushed in so quickly everyone scrambled to the top floor to get away from the impending doom. I just can't imagine! If you can help in any small way it would be greatly appreciated! I am beginning with this amount, although I feel like she will need so much more...Thank you all in advance! XO
