My name is Leif Youngquist, as most of you know. I’m a small business owner and fine artist. I’m a proud father of four, and have been married to my amazing wife for 9 years. We are originally from the Bay Area and moved to Central to caretake for my Mother and sister-in-law.

What started as a routine, and somewhat simple surgery for diverticulitis took a turn for the worst. The re-sectioning failed; my colon had collapsed, and they went in for surgery for a second time and installed a ostomy bag to save my life. I was in the hospital for two weeks, and although it was a relief to come home after all that time, the reality of the new ostomy bag and healing process started to set in.

The healing process is extremely long and painful. I’m hopeful that I will be making positive headway daily. My healing and new ostomy bag, unfortunately prevents me from working in the trade I call my career and small business (Filthy Phil’s Barbershop). I’m humbly asking for help with medical bills and daily life expenses for my family of 6 (I.e. rent) while I’m in recovery for the 4-6 months it takes before I need to go back for surgery again to hopefully reverse the ostomy (although it it not guaranteed to work, from what I’m told).
