Dear friends and family,
You envision a world for your child where anything is possible and as parents you will move mountains to achieve that. We are humbly asking for your support.
As many of you already know, our son Leif has severe food allergies to peanuts, tree nuts and eggs. This condition affects every aspect of his life and ours as well. Within the current constraints of our situation everywhere feels like a threat. Leif has been hospitalized twice for asthma which usually coincides with food allergies and makes reactions that much more life threatening. Navigating the grey areas of allergies has been challenging for us as a family with a loss of normalcy, freedom and spontaneity.
Living with food allergies is a constant source of fear and anxiety. We have to hover over Leif in any public place to make sure he doesn't eat or touch anything by mistake. We have already confronted our fears on those ends which makes our world feel that much smaller. We want Leif to be able to live a life with family, friends and our community comfortably.
We learned about the Food Allergy Institute TIP Program, which could help Leif achieve food freedom. This program would be life-changing for our family, but unfortunately, it is beyond our financial capabilities. The five-figure cost of the program is more than we can afford. Unfortunately insurance isn’t taken for most, if not all of these treatments and all cost will be out of pocket. The program is also estimated to be 2.5-3 years totaling just over 30k.
That's why we are asking for your help. We know that everyone has their own bills and expenses, but any amount you can donate would be greatly appreciated. If you cannot donate, please share this message with your family and friends. We are grateful for our support system and happy that we have people who love Leif and are willing to help.
