Hey everyone,
I am extremely excited to share that I have been given the opportunity to march with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps for the 2025 Drum Corps International (DCI) season!
For those unfamiliar, DCI represents the highest level of performance in the marching arts, uniting performers from around the nation. As part of this journey, I'll be travelling across the U.S. with the Blue Knights, with over 20 competitions throughout the country, culminating in the World Championships at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Beginning on May 20th, I'll be moving in for spring training, where we will rehearse and prepare the show for competition. From there, we will tour around the country, performing and competing!
I've followed this activity since I was in middle school, where I joined the indoor drumline and marching band. Throughout high school, I continued my journey with drumline, and into college, I marched with the Blue Knights Percussion Ensemble in the 2024 Winter Guard International (WGI) season. Then in 2024, I was given a contract to march with the Battalion Drum and Bugle Corps for my first season marching drum corps, and it was an incredible experience. I learned so much about myself, not only as a performer, but as a person, too. This summer, I was allowed to fill a hole in the snare line with the Blue Knights for their 2025 season. This was an incredible surprise to me, because I was initially not planning to march, and I'm extremely excited to see what I get out of this season.
This activity has provided me with lifelong friendships, unforgettable experiences, and honestly has given me a sense of belonging. Unfortunately, it comes at a cost. Especially in recent years, the cost of participating in DCI has become a significant challenge. The total cost of this season, with tuition, travel costs, and other necessary expenses, is expected to be $6,000. To make this dream a reality for me, I am starting a fundraiser so that I'm able to march this summer. I'm reaching out to you all to ask for your support in any way possible.
