A few days ago, our friend Leidy was caught in a violent shooting in Guatemala City.

She was waiting for work when armed men opened fire. Leidy had nothing to do with the violence—she was simply an innocent bystander. Tragically, she was shot three times: in her foot, calf, and abdomen. While she survived, her journey to recovery is far from over.

Leidy should still be in the hospital, but because she cannot afford proper care, she was sent home. Now she is recovering with open wounds, without the treatment she needs to fight infection and heal. Her family does not even have clean running water and must buy bottled water to clean her wounds.

We met Leidy years ago while filming BBOY for LIFE in Guatemala City. Since then, she has been raising her children, welcomed a third son, and recently, we helped her get a car so she could drive for Uber and provide for her family. She was doing everything right, but now she cannot work.

We are raising funds to cover her immediate medical needs and the next three months of recovery and living expenses. Anything beyond that will help support her family, including her child's schooling. If you can give, thank you. If not, please share.
