I never imagined I’d be in this position, but I’m asking for help for my golden girl, Leia - the sweetest and calmest soul, and truly the easiest dog you could ever have. The kind of dog who just knows how to be there for you.
So many of you know her and love her, and that’s because she really is just that special. Friends, neighbors, babies, elderly, strangers, everyone was greeted with joy and excitement, and of course SNUGS and love. We’ve had her since she was a puppy, when Brady was near 2, both so little, both potty training together lol, growing up together being our constant source of love, comfort, and stability through every whirlwind life has thrown at us.
She’s always been there for us — now it’s our turn to be there for her.
Over the past week, her health has taken a sudden and heartbreaking turn. She stopped eating and drinking normally, lost a significant amount of weight, became very lethargic, and started vomiting and diarrhea, including blood. It all happened so quickly, and it’s been incredibly hard to watch and navigate.
In just one week, she’s had four vet visits with bloodwork, testing, ultrasounds, medications, and diet changes. The ultrasound revealed a mass on her liver that is affecting her digestive system and causing severe nausea and significant inflammation.
Right now, the vets cannot determine whether the mass is benign or something more serious without further procedures, and they cannot properly treat her condition without understanding exactly what is going on internally.
This past year has been difficult for our family with a lot of unexpected losses and setbacks where I’ve had to work extra hard, and spend extra costs- without going into details of my personal life, after being hit by an impaired driver and my home life taking a turn I didn’t see coming- in the last couple months, I had to purchase both a new car and new home for my family.
Now with the costs of Leia’s care, it has become overwhelming. With these sudden onset costs mixed with life expenses- there are still critical diagnostics and treatments ahead that I simply cannot navigate and afford on my own.
Even with everything life has thrown our way, we want to do everything that’s possible for our 8 year old girl.
Any funds raised will go directly towards:
• Diagnostic procedures to get answers (including identifying the mass)
• Ongoing care and vet visits
• Medication, specialized diet, and supportive care
My goal is to either get her the treatment she needs to recover, or to make sure she is comfortable, cared for, and surrounded by love for whatever time she has.
If you are able to help in any way — even sharing this — it would mean the world to our little family.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and showing care for my girl throughout these 8 years.
