Leia has been my world since she was just 8 weeks old. Now, at 8 years young, she is facing the fight of her life. Recently, Leia was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, an aggressive and incredibly painful bone cancer. She currently has a large mass on her ribcage that makes every day a struggle. Without immediate intervention, the doctors have told me she may only have 3 to 6 weeks left with us.

Osteosarcoma doesn't just spread; it weakens the bones to the point of fracturing. Because her tumor is on her ribs, the pain is constant. I was initially hesitant to put her through such a major procedure—removing ribs is a massive undertaking—but it is the only way to stop the physical pain the cancer is causing her. Choosing surgery isn't just about "more time"; it's about making sure the time she has left is lived without agony. With surgery and chemotherapy, we can buy her precious months of joy, treats, and tail wags.
