Help Lei Laura Fight Colon Cancer & Get the Care She Needs

Our family is asking for help for an amazing person, bonus mom, grandmother, sister and friend Lei Laura, who is bravely battling her second round of colon cancer.

In just the last three months, she’s endured more than anyone should ever have to. A large mass was discovered in her abdomen that required emergency surgery. Shortly after, she developed a life-threatening infection that nearly took her from us. Just when we thought she was finally in the clear, she needed a pacemaker installed to keep her heart strong after flat lining twice. Through it all, Lei Laura has fought with courage, humor, and her trademark wit that keeps our family smiling even on the hardest days.

Unfortunately, the toll has been heavy. We’ve used up most of our resources, and we’re reaching out for support to help with some of the most important needs right now:

Repairing her van – which is essential for getting her to and from her treatments. She has the parts needs, she just needs the labor. If anyone is willing to donate their time for this project that would be very helpful too if you can't donate a monetary donation. As it stands the repairs should be in the neighborhood of $500-800 to get the bare minimum done, as is the wheel is not secure and is not drivable. Above and beyond that it needs a basic tune up, windshield and deep clean to get it ready to handle transporting her to appointments.

There are some adjustments to the house to help her be mobile, shower bars, a lift chair, and a hospital bed are all on her "wishlist" of things, just trying to make chemo and life as comfortable as possible for her so she can heal.

We also are also raising funds to help with transportation costs in the interim of getting her van fixed, on days someone in the family isn't able to take her to appointments she has to pay for transportation to appointments.

This would also help cover the large amount of uncovered medical supplies and RX costs. Her current insurance will only pay for 3 monthly so a lot of costs are out of pocket.

Chemo supplies & comfort items – to make her daily life and recovery as manageable as possible. She is in desperate need of things not covered by insurance- warm clothing, a lift chair, bedside potty, and comfort items for chemo- extra blankets, heaters, etc to help make chemo a little more tolerable as she will be going thru aggressive chemo during the coldest months. We will also create an amazon wishlist for specific things she needs if you'd like to do that.

Lei Laura isn’t just a cancer patient. She’s a loving grandmother, a person who stepped into our lives with open arms, and someone who can always make people laugh even in the darkest moments. She deserves every chance at recovery, and we’re doing everything we can to make that happen.
