We never expect the worst to happen to our furry family members. Recently, our sweet rescue cat, Lego, suffered a terrifying accident, and we are doing everything we can to get him the urgent care he needs. Here is what happened and how you can help.
The Incident: In a heartbreaking moment, Lego accidentally fell from our 6th-floor balcony. We rushed him to the emergency veterinary clinic in complete panic, terrified of what we might find. The emergency team worked quickly to stabilize him, and the following days were filled with fear, waiting, and hoping for the best as we learned the full extent of his injuries.
The Medical Diagnosis: By some miracle, Lego survived the fall without major internal organ damage. He did suffer lung bruising, which still needs close monitoring, but his most serious injury is to his paw and wrist. The impact caused a rare and complex orthopedic injury, severely damaging the carpal joints, ligaments, and supporting structures in his foot. Because of how serious the injury is, Lego urgently needs surgery. Without it, he could face chronic pain, instability, poor mobility, and a much lower quality of life. This procedure is his best chance at living comfortably and using his leg again. We are doing everything we can to make sure he gets the care he needs!
We have spent over $3000 on emergency care, X-rays, exams, monitoring, and pain treatment. We are now looking at $8,000 for surgery without any complications, These necessary first steps have already us beyond what we were prepared for.
Lego is not just a pet. He is family. We adopted Lego and his brother Leo seven years ago from a local rescue. They are bonded brothers who have spent every day together, sleeping side by side, grooming each other, and growing up together. Seeing them separated through this has been heartbreaking. We want nothing more than to help Lego heal, come home safely, and continue growing old with his brother.
