Hi, my name is Sonseray — but most people know me as Leesa.

I’m a 55-year-old loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. For 35 years, I worked hard as a CDL worker, proudly supporting my family and helping anyone I could — even when I didn’t have much. I gave from my heart because that’s just who I am.

In early February 2025, I discovered a small lump in my right breast — the same spot I had a hernia one year ago. I didn’t panic, but I called my doctor right away. Her first available appointment was in April. By then, the lump had grown. After a mammogram in June, I had a biopsy… and just a few days later, I was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer.

This diagnosis flipped my world upside down. I’m the first in my family to ever face cancer, and I won’t lie — I’m scared. My treatment plan includes 6 months of chemotherapy, followed by surgery, more chemo, and then radiation. This means I’m unable to work, and finding a job that fits around chemo has been almost impossible.

My husband is doing everything he can to hold us together and keep the bills paid, but we’ve gone from a two-income household to one — all while the medical bills keep piling up. He's doing his best, but we need help.

Throughout my life, I’ve shown up for people — feeding others, giving when I barely had enough myself, being a true friend to anyone in need. I never did it for anything in return. I did it from the heart. Now, I find myself in a place where I’m the one in need, and that’s not easy for me to say.
