My name is LeeAnn, and I'm trying to raise some funds to help with getting my husband back and forth to his surgeons office in Clyde, NC. He had cervical spinal fusion from c4-c6 with a cage on October 13th. Everything went amazing and he was able to come home on the 14th. The doctors are very pleased with the outcome. But on Thursday the 16th, in the early morning hours, he started having some issues with being able to swallow his water. After I got back from taking our babies to school, he told me he still couldn't swallow his water nor eat anything and he was starting to have trouble breathing. He called the surgeons office and they had us to get to the closest ER to try to find out what was going on. We went to Murphy medical where they ran tests and scans and found some issues above his surgical site. One being a large hematoma about his incision. He stayed overnight at Murphy then was transferred to Haywood Regional where his surgeon is the on the 17th. He stayed from Friday thru Monday not being able to eat or drink anything, but even able to swallow his own saliva. The doctors are contemplating putting a feeding tube in if he had gone any longer with being to drink or eat. They did finally determined that he was having an extreme case of post operative swelling that required an extensive amount of IV steroids. Now we're having to make multiple trips to Clyde for followup appointments and still having to care for our babies (2 boys ages 7 and 15 and 1 girl age 5), and funds are non existent right now.
