Update: On Feb. 22,2021 Lee Sussman passed away peacefully with his wife by his side. In lieu of flowers or food please donate to this.
On July 7, 2020 our lives changed forever. Lee Sussman, woke up from a nap paralyzed from the chest down. He had undergone neck surgery 5 weeks before and had been recovering after 3 weeks of intense pain. He had in fact made the appointment to get cleared to go back to work . He was rushed to Summerlin Hospital thinking it was a stroke but they determined quickly that it wasn't. We contacted his Neurosurgeon , Dr Duke, and transferred him to St Rose Sienna. He spent 10 days there with the doctors trying to figure out what had gone wrong. He was finally diagnosed with Acute Transverse Myelitis and taken to Dignity Healrh Rehabilitation where he started the slow process of seeing what mobility he might gain back. 10 days later he was back at Sienna with pneumonia! After 5 days in isolation there he finally was transferred back to rehab where he remains. His progress has been slow and it is going to take a long time for him to recover and several pieces of expensive equipment for him to come home. That is why we are asking for your help. Over the past 30 years Lee has helped hundreds and hundreds of pacemaker patients by being the kind and compassionate human being he is. Now we need our friends and adopted "families " to step up and give what you can. The aid we will need to have costs about $100 a day. And the equipment will run well over $10,000 Insurance will cover a nominal amount but not much and will have to do extensive construction to the house. We know these are difficult times for everyone. Please give what you can and know that every dollar is so greatly appreciated. We cannot tell you what it means to us to know that people care. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Lee, Debbe. Alexis, Jyl, and Orion.
