Urgent Roof Update: Temp. Repair Needed For Water Intrusion

Hi, my name is Ness and I’m fundraising for my brother Lee, his wife Luvina, their children, and Luvina’s mother.

Their home has suffered significant damage, and they need your help to make it safe and livable again. Your support will help protect their family and bring their home back to life!

They have eight daughters and eleven grandchildren, and their home has always been the heart of the family; birthdays, holidays, dinners, celebrations, and the place where everyone gathers. They open their doors to everyone, and family has always been the center of their lives.

They began construction on their home so Luvina’s mother, who had suffered a stroke, could have a safe, accessible bedroom and bathroom. They wanted to give her independence, dignity, and a comfortable space of her own. What was supposed to be a blessing for the family slowly turned into something none of us ever expected.

Over several months, the roof began leaking again and again. Water kept entering the home, and the house they worked so hard for began to fill with water damage and mold. They asked repeatedly for the issue to be addressed, but the leaking continued. They even brought in a licensed water-intrusion specialist to assess the situation, and the reports showed that the damage was becoming severe.

When the problems continued and the home kept getting worse, the family halted the project and sought independent evaluations from new professionals, including a new engineer, contractors, and a roofer. Their findings were devastating. Large portions of the construction were not properly completed and raised serious safety and structural concerns.

Some areas have no proper support beneath the new construction, which means the weight is being carried by the original house, putting stress on the entire structure. They were told that the structural problems must be repaired before the roof can be safely replaced or the home can be completed.

Their home is not only unfinished, but unsafe.

The financial impact has been overwhelming.
The family exhausted their available resources trying to address the damage.

Lee and Luvina used everything they had trying to fix their home, hiring new professionals, paying for evaluations and reports, covering temporary fixes, and trying to protect the house while raising their kids and caring for Luvina’s mother. The ongoing leaks forced them to tarp the roof every few months just to keep water out, costing more money they don't have.

Estimated repair costs exceed $150,000 to address the damage and make the home safe again. This does not included completing the original project.

For a family that has always done everything on their own and never asked for help, this situation has been heartbreaking. Their kids have been deeply affected, large parts of the home are unsafe, and all they want is to have their home back, a safe place where the family can gather, grow, and make memories again.

They didn't deserve any of this, and they’ve exhausted every resource trying to rebuild. They only want a chance to repair the structural damage, remove the mold, and make their home stable and livable again.

If you can help in any way, by sharing, donating, or even offering encouragement, it would mean the world to them.
Thank you for reading their story and caring about this family that means so much to all of us.

With much gratitude,
Ness
