My name is Leanne, and I’m reaching out for help as I face one of the toughest times of my life. I am a single parent supporting my two young adult children, along with our dog and three cats. For years, I’ve worked hard to provide for my family, but recently, a series of setbacks has left us struggling to keep our home and car.
I am currently three months behind on rent and car payments. My landlord is demanding half of the overdue rent within two days, and I am just two weeks away from having my car repossessed. I do freelance work to cover our basic needs, but it’s not enough to catch up on these urgent bills. I am actively seeking more work to help with my financial issues. Earlier this year, my car insurance lapsed, which led to a penalty and now a suspended registration. I was able to reinstate my insurance, but the penalty remains, and I can’t drive my car until the registration is restored, which restricts my ability to work. I have a second interview for another job next week, but without a working car or funds for the bus, I’m not sure how I’ll get there. I am also currently without cell service and rely on wi-fi to communicate.
I have always lived paycheck to paycheck, and now I have no savings, can’t get a loan or credit card, and have exhausted the limited help my family and very close friends can provide. Local assistance programs can’t help due to strict eligibility requirements. I am doing everything I can to get back on my feet, but right now, I need help to keep a roof over our heads and prevent losing our car. Immediate support will help me catch up on rent and car payments, giving us the stability we need while I continue to look for more work and attend job interviews. Restoring my phone service would also help, but my main focus is keeping our home and car.
Any support, no matter the amount, would mean the world to us. I am deeply grateful for any help and would love to send thank-you cards or small gifts, like a personalized thank-you card that includes seed packets and a one-of-a-kind artwork, to show my appreciation, as I am able. Thank you for reading our story and considering a donation to help my family through this difficult time.
