Help Leann - BFPA Parvo Puppy
Tax deductible
Leann is a 6-month old plott hound mix that was found as a stray and ended up at Orange County shelter in Chapel Hill, NC. Upon intake staff noticed that Leann was lethargic, nauseous, and had no interest in food so she was tested for Parvo. Unfortunately she tested positive which is a death sentence if left untreated. The shelter started treatment immediately and looked for help from rescue.
Luckily BFPA had a foster home available to take a Parvo puppy so we agreed to help. Leann was stable at the shelter, getting treatment by the medical staff and was scheduled to be picked up on Saturday morning. Unfortunately she started to decline and needed more aggressive treatment than the shelter could give. She was brought to the ER vet immediately after pick up and was admitted for aggressive treatment.
The vet estimates she will be hospitalized for approximately 3 days which is not cheap. Right now we are looking at a bill that could be up to $6000. We are looking for help from our community and generous supporters to help raise funds to cover the cost of treatment.
Parvovirus is completely preventable with appropriate vaccines and it is always so frustrating that at risk puppies and dogs are subjected to this deadly disease. If Parvo is left untreated, the survival rate is less than 20%.
Please help donate to give sweet Leann a fighting chance at life!
