Help Leah with her ongoing stroke therapy

On 20th December 2020 our close friend Leah Morley suffered a major stroke and was admitted to Royal London hospital where she received major brain surgery just in time to burst several blood clots in the left side of her brain. When Leah become conscious after the surgery she had lost all function on the right hand side of her body and was unable to communicate. Leah then spent 6 weeks away from her 3 year old son Kasper over Christmas and New Year, during the COVID pandemic meaning no one was able to visit her, which severely affected her mental health. With sheer determination and will power to get back to Kasper, Leah began her life long journey of re learning how to walk and talk again.
Over a year on from her stroke Leah still doesn’t have full function of the right side of her body, she suffers with apashia and is having to live day to day life raising a 3 year old boy all with function of one arm. Doctors have now confirmed that the cause of Leahs stroke was a hole in her aortic valve leading to her heart. Doctors have also suggested that she will be living with the effects of her stroke for the rest of her life.
As her closest friends we will all partaking in a Tough Mudder consisting of 10km run and 20 obstacles to raise money for Leahs ongoing stroke treatments and therapy. Doctors have advised to Leah to have the best chance of regaining majority function she needs to receive consistent stroke rehabilitation & physiotherapy as well as hydrotherapy, electro stimulation & oxygen therapy for her brain. Although some of these treatments & therapies are available on the NHS service the waiting lists are extremely long, patients are only able to receive a limited amount of sessions & not everyone is eligible.
With these treatments and therapies, we believe, that given Leahs age (30), positive mindset and determination, she will be able to get back to the life she lived before her stroke, just as she deserves.
One of Leahs dreams is to be able tie her son Kaspers shoe laces up ❤️
