Help Leah Pojar's Family Through Cancer Battle
Donation protected
My name is Leah R. Pojar. On October 3rd, 2024, I was diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer at the age of 33. This came as a blow to my family and myself, and I am scared but strong to fight this battle.
Here is a little about me and my family. I am a Certified Medication Aide that works at an assisted living facility in Pender, NE. I have worked in long-term care for over 10 years. I am also a student at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, NE, working to achieve my degree in counseling. I am a mother, wife, daughter, and friend to many. My husband, Adam J. Pojar, and I have been married for just over 2 years. I have a 13-year-old daughter from a previous marriage, and my husband has stepped up to adopt her. My husband is a mechanic in Wakefield, NE, and has been there for 4 years. He has a degree in farm equipment mechanics. We are a small family that makes ends meet, and this is hard for us to reach out like this, but we know we need the help from this GoFundMe account.
This GoFundMe is to help my family with travel expenses and several medical bills, not only from my cancer treatments but also from doing oocyte cryopreservation, which is the freezing of eggs to keep them safe from my radiation and chemotherapy. The reason behind us doing this process is to hopefully have other children in the future. I have a 13-year-old from a previous marriage, but my husband has no biological children of his own. My husband is an amazing man and has stepped up to adopt my daughter as his own, and we planned on trying to get pregnant this year until I was diagnosed with cancer. Having the choice for more children to be in jeopardy is the hardest blow from this diagnosis. After that, I will start a radiation/chemo combo for about 6 weeks, have a small break, and then go to just chemo, which could be for another 5 to 6 weeks.
