Leah's Journey: A Path to Healing and Hope

Leah is home! Weak, but home with a strict diet as eating still causes pain. With a consultation for her gallbladder surgery in the books, we hope for some pain free meals soon! Her doctor has warned her that she has a weakened immune system, and that looking for a career change is in her best interest.. easier said than done, so if anyone has any leads or anything, that is another way we can help!

Tucker is still having hip issues and struggling to eat, but Leah is able to get him up for walks in the chilly weather but only recently started eating on his own.

With being home, Leah has to face all of the bills that have been waiting for her arrival.. she cannot thank everyone enough, as with all of our help, she doesn’t have the added stress of where her rent and utilities are going to come from.

Leah is shocked at all of the love and support she is receiving.. with that being said, a couple unfortunate but fortunate updates for us! Tucker is home, but due to an infection, he’ll be on antibiotics for 10 days. With his diagnosis and treatment, the vet is charging Leah roughly $3,600. WHAT a bill?!

An update on Leah, she’s finally off the ice chips and allowed to eat some solid foods! Pain is expected while eating, until she’s able to get her gallbladder out. Doctors won’t remove it, until the inflammation is gone, so there is less of a risk for complications. They’re considering giving her a mid-line so she can have the antibiotics administered at the comfort of her own home, instead of being stuck at the hospital. Today, December 17th, marks 12 days in the hospital for Leah.. I think it’s safe to say, she’s ready to get outta there!

Leah, a loving mother, grandmother, and daughter, dedicated friend, friend to all, has been facing incredible challenges lately. She has had such a bad run of luck… she’s had unexpected medical diagnoses that have caused her to be hospitalized for weeks, car issues causing it to be in the shop for months, and now, unfortunately, Tucker, her beloved companion, is sick and is admitted to the vet’s emergency room. This difficult time has left Leah feeling overwhelmed and in need of support.

As Leah navigates this challenging journey, she is faced with medical bills for herself and now Tucker, rehabilitation costs, lost income due to inability to work or look for work, and her bills are not stopping just because she’s not home! That's where we come in - friends, family, and community members who care deeply about Leah and want to help.
