After making it to my final semester at Howard University, I was recently informed that I would not be able to walk at graduation due to an outstanding tuition balance. This was one of my most challenging years at Howard. Throughout the fall and spring semesters, I had to travel back and forth between school and my home in NYC to help care for my elderly grandmother, who became unexpectedly ill. Many nights were spent at the hospital, supporting her and making sure she had everything she needed. Despite these challenges, I remained committed to my studies, completing all my assignments and ensuring I was academically cleared to graduate from Howard University.
Unfortunately, I was just made aware that I cannot participate in graduation next week May 9th with an outstanding balance. Of course my family is supporting me, but I’m reaching out for help from our community.
Receiving support now would mean everything to me. It would allow me to officially graduate, return home to NYC, and begin my career in the film industry. Your generosity will help me cross this final hurdle and start my next chapter. Any support you can give would mean the world to me. Thank you so much for your kindness and for helping me pursue my dreams.
