Help Leah Asano Heal After Traumatic Brain Injury

Donation protected
While snowboarding on March 7, 2021, Leah took a spill and hit her head hard enough to crack her helmet in two places. Leah received help right away from Jaimie who she was boarding with + ski patrol and was immediately transported to the nearest hospital. Due to the large subdural hematoma sustained, Leah needed emergency surgery where the left portion of her skull was removed to relieve the pressure in her brain. She is currently in stable condition in the ICU with some of the very best doctors and nurses caring for her, in addition to Jen, her big sister,  & Jaimie tending to any other needs. She will need critical medical care for weeks and even months, as well as another surgery to return the bone flap after her brain has healed and the swelling has gone down.

Leah is a long time outrigger canoe paddler, former Aloha Airlines flight attendant and has served the leeward coast community as a Health Professions Program Manager at the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center for many years. For those that know her, she is kind, generous, loyal and incredibly funny. Please consider donating to offset her growing medical expenses and to getting her home sooner than later.

Updates will be posted here so that her sister can focus on Leah, Leah’s medical treatment and the incredible amount of organizing involved w critical care treatment thousands of miles from home. It is all very new and overwhelming and they can’t possibly return all the texts and phone calls coming in. We will reach out w needs as they arise, so please standby for now. Leah and her family would like to thank you for your love, support & prayers during this difficult and scary time ❤️
