You may know Layla Sullivan as the hair magician of The Bobby Pin, the artist behind The Chalk Garden, or as an all-around exceptional human and fiercely loyal friend. On July 1, she was diagnosed with liver cancer. She’s tough as hell and we’re optimistic she can beat this, but she has an arduous treatment journey ahead of her, and she’s facing a large and inescapable medical debt.

If all goes according to plan, Layla will have the tumor removed along with part of her liver. She’ll then undergo a two-month healing process from this major surgery, followed by six months of chemotherapy. Sadly, even with health insurance, money will still play a persistent and looming role in Layla’s recovery. She’s already accrued a staggering amount of medical bills, not to mention the wages she’s lost from missed work. Once she recovers from her surgery and begins chemo, she won’t be able to return to the salon full time because her immune system will be extremely fragile. Her out-of-pocket expenses have already reached more than $25,000 and will only continue to grow without a consistent income.

Layla is a person who always jumps at the chance to help others, and regularly uses her artwork to raise money to aid various groups in need. Now it’s her turn to need help, and we won’t let her down! All donations (minus GoFundMe’s fees) will be put towards her medical bills and expenses.
