My name is Dennis, and I am reaching out to the community for help with my niece and nephew's medical expenses.

On February 2, 2025, my niece (Layla, 8 years old) and nephew (Matthew, 11 years old) had just exited a vehicle near a park in Channelview. A vehicle driven by an 18-year-old male was speeding on the street where they got out of the car. The 18-year-old male struck another vehicle that was backing out of the driveway across from the park. Then, the 18-year-old male lost control of his vehicle and struck Layla and Matthew, who were standing away from the street. The 18-year-old male driver also struck a total of 5 cars, and he does not have insurance.

Layla and Matthew were then rushed by paramedics to Texas Children's Hospital in the medical center. Layla received multiple fractures, and Matthew received severe injuries resulting in a colostomy bag being placed. Both will remain in Shock Trauma ICU for at least another 30 days and require multiple additional surgeries.

Layla and Matthew are covered by private health insurance. The money that is being raised will go directly to my brother and sister-in-law to assist with current expenses and future medical expenses. This will be a long road to recovery due to the extent of injuries that both of them received.
