Vera Miles was 90 years old and dedicated her life to private duty healthcare, working until the age of 87 doing what she loved. She touched many lives with her compassion and commitment, always putting others first. Vera passed away on February 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and service to her family and community.

After her passing, a heartbreaking situation unfolded. On February 6, Vera’s youngest daughter emptied her checking and savings accounts, which had been set aside for Vera’s burial. With her accounts left at zero, her daughter left for California, stating she would not attend her mother’s funeral and showing no regret for using the burial funds. This has left our family in an incredibly difficult and embarrassing position, unable to cover the costs of giving Vera the dignified farewell she deserves.

Vera has grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and many loved ones here in Atlanta who wish to attend a small service to honor her memory. We need to purchase a casket, pay for embalming, and arrange for Vera to be flown to Riverside Veterans Cemetery in California, where we will hold a graveside service and lay her to rest with my father.
