Steven Hermann was a devoted father, son, and friend who spent his life caring for those he loved. In 2023, Steven was diagnosed with stage 4, t4 bladder and prostate cancer. Over the next several months, he endured more than six surgeries, including the removal of his bladder and prostate, as well as multiple kidney repairs. Despite the pain and long hospital stays, Steven faced each challenge with quiet strength. By 2024, he was told the cancer had not spread past his lymph nodes and was considered cancer-free, but his health never fully recovered. At 72, after years of putting his own needs aside to care for his parents through their battles with Alzheimer's and dementia, Steven’s body was simply too tired to heal. In November, his health declined rapidly, and he passed away surrounded by family.

Steven spent the last 20 years helping his mother care for his father, then moving in to care for her until her passing. He had no job and little savings, as he devoted his time to his family. He relied on part B Medicaid and social security retirement benefits, and when we moved in to help him in 2022, we took over the mortgage and bills. The house is outdated and needs repairs, and with no life insurance, we are struggling to cover his final expenses.

Any support, even a little, is greatly appreciated. Steven was an avid and loyal NASCAR fan, loved fishing—both regular and ice—and had an old soul for classic rock, especially Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Creedence Clearwater Revival. He always tried to help his family and friends, especially his two sons. We would love to give him the cremation and celebration of life he deserves, and give back to someone who always gave to those he loved.
