Hello everyone. My name is Kathy . We recently found out that our sister Shirley has Cancer. It wasn't found until it was too late. She is bedbound and they recently started her on morphine. As of this morning she is now on a fentanyl drip. We are crushed beyond measure!!!! Shirley is deaf. HER WHOLE LIFE HAS NOT BEEN EASY! And we are just struggling to afford everyday life, much less a funeral. We really could use some help. They gave her 3 to 6 months to live but now they are saying it could literally be in the next week. This was all so sudden! She went in the hospital to have fluid drained off her stomach, and that is when they found the cancer. She doesn't understand what is going on. We are just beside ourselves trying to cope with it all. The added expense of a funeral is just something our family cannot afford. We want her to be buried in the cemetery where her young son is buried. He passed away when he was 12 due to an illness. He is buried at Polk Memorial Gardens and we want to lay her to rest with her son. WE HAVE SPOKE WITH KEITH BAKER ABOUT AN OPEN CSKET FUNERAL. WE DO NOT WANT A CREMATION !!! We just want her beside her son. That is also where almost all of our family have been laid to rest. I know she would want it this way. The cost of a burial is somewhere around $9,000. We are hoping Keith will work with us to be able to do this. He has always held the funerals for our family members and we grew up with him so we are pretty close.
