It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Sharolyn Huʻilani Kanae, who quietly left us at home in Kāne‘ohe, Hawai‘i on October 27, 2025.

Sharolyn was born on May 25, 1956, and grew up in Kalihi surrounded by a large and loving family. The youngest of ten children, she grew up with three brothers and six sisters, attending St. John’s and later graduating from St. Francis Girls School in Honolulu.

She was blessed with three sons, who were the center of her world. In 1986, Sharolyn would become a single mother and faced life’s challenges with courage, resiliency and determination. She worked hard in various jobs throughout her life, always making sure her young boys had a roof over their heads, food on the table, and clothes on their backs. Her strength, faith, and love carried her family through every trial.

Her greatest joy came later in life when she became Tūtū with the arrival of her six grandchildren, who were the loves of her life. She was known for her strict yet loving nature — a woman who loved fiercely, guided firmly, and would do anything for her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving and devoted son, Boysen Clute of Honolulu, Hawai‘i, the only surviving son of her three boys. Boysen works at The Queen’s Medical Center – Punchbowl, and is married to Kapena. Together they have a beautiful daughter, Sadie-Rose, who brought endless joy and light to Mama Sharolyn’s later years.

For the past several years, Mama Sharolyn bravely battled end-stage renal disease, spending countless days in and out of the hospital and enduring two years of dialysis. Despite her pain, she continued to smile, laugh, and share her warmth with everyone around her.

Her passing leaves behind not only treasured memories, but also medical and funeral expenses that her family is now faced with settling. We humbly ask for your kōkua (help) in giving Sharolyn the beautiful farewell she deserves. Any donation, big or small, will help ease this burden and honor her life of love, resilience, and aloha.
