Help lay Sage's mother to rest

Hi everyone. My name is Terra Lynn I am Savannah's mom and Sage's grandma.

Sage came into our world as a beautiful surprise we didn't know we needed. Savannah thought she had miscarried months ago but Sage had other plans. He laid low until he was ready to make his entrance.

He came into this world in a rush. Savannah had to have a c-section to get him out because he was in distress. Sage took in a lot of meconium, which we thought was the cause of all his breathing problems. He's been in the NICU since he was born. Has had around the clock medical attention to try and figure out why he is having such a hard time breathing. They would lower his oxygen and then boom they would have to bump it right back up. He started sweating profusely and they started more tests. His sodium levels dropped to dangerously low levels and more tests were done. Everything they thought it could be they found would be ruled out. They then found he had a staph epi infection. They thought they forsure found the source. They hit him with "the big guns" of antibiotics. And we really thought yay, we found the problem and he will be coming home soon. But we were wrong. The doctors came in and said we need to send Sage to Valley Children's Hospital in Madera for a CT scan and to see a pulmonary specialist to find out what they couldn't at Doctors Hospital or Modesto.

We fell apart.

Here we were met with the same enthusiasm to find out why Sage can't breathe. They ran their tests and did their scans and we now have answers. Are they the answers we were hoping for...no. The doctors have found that Sage has a hole in his heart and a genetic lung defect. Nothing that can be repaired. For Sage it will be a lot of breathing treatments, continuous air being pumped into his lungs and TIME! Doctors say he will be in here for a while.

Savannah and I were able to secure a room at the Ronald McDonald House which is way better than sleeping on a mattess shoved into the back of my SUV. Savannah will stay here full time and I will travel back and forth during the week to be with her and Sage the most I can. Some may think that is crazy but Savannah is a first time mother who never had the time to process that she was having a baby. Its a lot for her to deal with let alone to be alone in a different city with no one else to be around.

Our main reason for this go fund me page is to help cover the expenses of driving back and forth and to cover the bills in Savannah's absence from work. It is very hard for us to ask for donations knowing our friends and families have bills and expenses of their own. No donation is too small and every bit helps.
