I am creating this fundraiser for my beloved 14-year-old nephew, Rakeem Blair Jr. Our family is living through the most heartbreaking time of our lives after Rakeem was tragically shot and killed. He was taken from us far too soon, and we are struggling to make sense of a loss this painful. Rakeem was just a kid with his whole life ahead of him. He had dreams to chase, memories to make, and so much more life to live. Anyone who knew him knew he was energetic, playful, hard-headed, and respectful all at once. He had a personality you could never forget. He could make you laugh, test your patience, and then turn right around and show you just how big his heart was.

One of the things we will always remember most about Rakeem was his drive. He was a little hustler, always trying to make a dollar, whether he was selling car air fresheners or coming up with his next idea. At only 14 years old, he already had an entrepreneurial spirit and knew how to make something out of nothing. He was supposed to grow up, graduate, keep chasing his dreams, and make his family proud. Instead, we are now facing the painful reality of laying him to rest. The funds from this fundraiser will help our family cover funeral and burial expenses, along with the other unexpected costs that come with such a devastating loss.
