This fundraiser is for Paul Eddy and his family. It is organized by Ginny Burton, Paul’s family friend, in support of his biological children after a sudden and heartbreaking loss. On Saturday, September 12, Paul was hospitalized with pneumonia after his oxygen dropped dangerously low and his heart rate became dangerously high. He was intubated that same day, then went into cardiac arrest. Although the medical team was able to revive him, his condition worsened into septic shock. By Monday, his organs were failing, and early Tuesday morning, September 15, he was taken off the ventilator and all medications. He passed away 21 minutes later. His family had only three days to face a loss no one saw coming.
Paul was hard-working, kind, and deeply devoted to his children, grandchildren, and everyone he loved. He was a recovering addict with 25 years clean, a testament to his strength, courage, and commitment to change. Many people knew him through his years at Home Depot, and others knew him as someone who opened his heart and home to kids who needed somewhere to go. He gave his time, his energy, and his heart, and he made people feel valued.
Now Paul’s family is facing not only the pain of losing him, but also the unexpected financial and legal responsibilities that followed. Because Paul did not have a will and was not married, his estate must go through probate before anything can be settled. Funds from this fundraiser will go directly to Rebecca Nelson to help cover funeral and final expenses, probate attorney retainer and court filing fees, and the cost of keeping Paul’s home insured, secured, and current during probate. Any amount helps. If giving is not possible, sharing this fundraiser would mean so much. Thank you for loving our dad and for carrying us through the hardest days we have ever had. Rest peacefully, Dad. We love you and we will carry you with us always.
