Help Lay Nicolas Miankem Bambaye to Rest in His Hometown
Our Story
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Nicolas Miankem Bambaye on October 29, 2025, after suffering his third stroke. Nicolas was born on September 9, 1958, in Moundou, Chad, and his life journey was marked by resilience, faith, and dedication to family and community.
In 1982, civil war forced him to flee Chad to the Central African Republic, and later to Benin, where he pursued his education. In 1998, Nicolas immigrated to the United States, became a citizen, and built a new life. He worked as a French teacher starting in 2006, sharing his love of language and culture. In 2009, he met his wife, Berthe Temadji, in Iowa, and together they welcomed their daughter, Emma Adoumbaye, in 2011.
Despite health challenges—including blindness in 2016, multiple cataract surgeries, high blood pressure, diabetes, and strokes in 2023—Nicolas remained strong in spirit. His final wish was to be buried in his hometown of Moundou, Chad, alongside his family.
